How can people move? What Is the Function of Wheels? Why do you slide down on a seesaw? What are simple machines, and why do tools make life easier?
From July 7-25, 2025, CAIS Firedragon Preschool Summer Camp Session 2 will focus on Iron Horse Science & Mechanics, and children will bring their own bicycles to school for three weeks, enjoying one hour of biking time each day within the school campus.
Session 2 Camp Highlights
- Daily Biking Time: Children will ride their bicycles, build confidence, and enhance their gross motor skills.
- Hands-On Building and Experiments: Activities will allow children to experience and understand how force and simple machines work.
- Makerspace Environment: A creative setting with diverse materials and tools for children to explore and create freely.
- Storytelling and Role-Playing: Opportunities to develop problem-solving and communication skills in a fun context.
- STEM Integration: Introducing scientific thinking and creativity from an early age.
Here are the learning experiences children will gain in this camp:
- Two-year-olds will observe, touch, and play with various transportation models discovering their shapes, colors, and functions. Through activities like pushing, pulling, and rolling, children will experience basic changes in movement. Activities like stacking transportation models or solving puzzles will introduce basic shape and spatial concepts.
- Three-to-five-year-olds will plan and build simple transportation models developing basic design and construction skills. Children will construct ramps to test the speed of various vehicles, learning about gravity, friction, and air resistance. Through assembling and building activities, children will apply shape and spatial concepts to transportation design. They will also have community walks to observe traffic scenarios, and it will help children understand the role of transportation in daily life and even plan their own “traffic routes.”
