We are excited to introduce the Firedragon Preschool Summer Camp, a series of three engaging sessions offered throughout the summer months. Each session has its own unique focus: Design Thinking & Coding, Science & Mechanics, and Chinese Ink Painting and Story Theater. Families are welcome to register their preschoolers for any or all of the three sessions based on your summer schedule needs.
The Firedragon Preschool Summer Camp offers children ages 2 to 5 a rich environment where they are accompanied by a team of adults who love children and love learning. This allows children to enjoy a summer camp filled with love and learning. The camp is divided into two groups: children ages 2-3 who are not yet potty trained and children who are 3 years old and fully potty trained.
At the Firedragon Preschool Summer Camp, children learn through play, exploring and developing their understanding of people, materials, and the world around them.
Throughout the camp, adults read daily encouragement cards to the children, sharing their observations of the children’s growth as they engage in the learning process, inspiring them to become lifelong learners. Teachers design enriching exploration activities to spark curiosity and model social-emotional skills during daily interactions, encouraging children to build relationships through observation and communication with adults and peers.
During community meetings, children discuss camp-related topics such as snack choices, play schedules, and project planning. By presenting ideas, gathering and analyzing information, and making collective decisions, they practice democratic values and foster an exchange of diverse perspectives.

Session 1:
June 16 – July 3, 2025
In Session 1, the Design Thinking & Coding Camp, children engage in design challenge activities, encounter Cubeco robots, and experience integrated STEAM-themed learning, fostering their skills in design and creativity.

Session 2:
July 7 – July 25, 2025
In Session 2, the Iron Horse Science & Mechanics Camp, children explore force and simple machines and strengthen their gross and fine motor skills, as well as physical fitness, through biking activities.

Session 3:
July 28 – August 15, 2025
In Session 3, the Chinese Ink Painting and Story Theater Camp, children express themselves through various materials and body movements, immersing themselves in the worlds of Chinese folktales and ink painting. Through open-ended artistic experiences, children are empowered to express their inner voices and intentions.

Teaching Team
The Firedragon Preschool Summer Camp was designed by Chu Hsi Tseng, CAIS Preschool Director, and Agnes Tong, Associate Preschool Director, and supported by CAIS preschool teachers.
Chu Hsi holds two Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education and STEM Curriculum and Design. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at San Francisco State University. She is passionate about leading the preschool teaching team to design STEAM curricula that inspire the next generation of learners! The Firedragon Preschool Summer Camp is both a research project and a practical initiative, aimed at providing children with a fresh learning experience and a summer full of exploration and joyful play.
