Our DEI Ambassadors compiled resources in preparation for Black History Month to help faculty incorporate more Black voices and perspectives into curricula. As the DEI Ambassadors share, “We all have a responsibility to celebrate and learn about Black history and culture. We should not limit our teaching and learning to a specific time of year or a specific topic. Teaching Black history and celebrating the contributions of Black Americans allows all of us to contribute to a more inclusive, anti-racist society.”
In additional to a wealth of resources for teachers, the guide the team created provides family resources for raising anti-racist children, including:
Books:
- Coretta Scott King Book Award Winners: books for children and young adults
- Children’s Books We Use to Teach Young Kids to be Anti-Racist
Podcasts:
- Parenting Forward podcast episode ‘Five Pandemic Parenting Lessons with Cindy Wang Brandt’
- Fare of the Free Child podcast
- Integrated Schools podcast episode “Raising White Kids with Jennifer Harvey”
