Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at Mid-Autumn Moon Festival
Our new campus roared to life on Saturday, as more than 1,000 Firedragon families, faculty, alumni, and friends gathered for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. Special guests included CAIS Founder Carol Ruth Silver—former SF Supervisor and Freedom Rider, District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar, District 2 Supervisor Catherine Stefani, City Attorney David Chiu, and City Administrator Carmen Chu, who all spoke about the vital importance of Mandarin immersion and CAIS as a hub for language and cultural education.
Highlights of the ceremony included a blessing of our new Lions with the help of Leung’s White Crane Dragon and Lion Dance, as well as a Lion Dance performance by our own middle schoolers.
Enjoy a recording of the complete ceremony at the video linked below and a quick recap (here) by Social Media Coordinator Orina Lee. Current families can visit Vidigami for photos from the ceremony, the Chinese Music Ensemble performances, and all the fun (and food!) at Mid-Autumn Moon Festival.
