Qin Shi Huang was the first emperor of China, and he had so many magnificent achievements as well as harsh criticism from his people. Was Qin Shi Huang a great emperor or a ruthless tyrant? How did Qin Shi Huang become the first emperor of China? What policies did Qin Shi Huang implement to govern his vast empire? Why did the Qin dynasty only last for 15 years? Seventh grade students explored these questions through reading a biography of Qin Shi Huang in Level Learning, and then adapted this book collaboratively into a play script. Eventually, students made their own puppets with soft clay and gave a wonderful performance of Qin Shi Huang’s life to our fourth grade students from the Lower School.
