Sixth grade artists recently began their collaborative Cave Project. Stemming from their Humanities unit on early humans, the project challenges students to create personal narratives in the style of early cave paintings, while co-constructing interactive cave installations with their peers. Each section of sixth grade will create its own cave, complete with each students’ personalized section. Sixth Grade Red and Sixth Grade Gold will analyze one another’s caves, using their archaeology skills to deconstruct the stories and narratives visible on the interior cave walls. Here, students can be seen working together on a sunny day to paint the base coat for the cave walls.
