Putting the "Fun" in Fundraising

The CAIS community holds a number of events during the school year to raise funds. The good times we enjoy working and playing together bring us closer and strengthen our community as we help to support our school.

ShowCAIS 2008: Shanghai Swings!

The 26th Annual ShowCAIS was held on Saturday, May 3rd, at the Bently Reserve in San Francisco. Shanghai Swings! was this year’s theme as guests were encouraged to don traditional chi-pao dresses and ivory dinner jackets. The festivities included a cocktail reception, dinner, live auction, and casino style gaming. Later in the evening, guests danced the night away to musical swing sensation, Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums.

With the dedication of this year's ShowCAIS Co-Chairs, Amy Chan & Dawne Ward, our ShowCAIS committee members Nancy Aquino, Vonceil Chun Yara, Joanie McCollom & Jian Mellquist, and the generosity of the CAIS community, the auction and gala raised a record $160,000 for CAIS! This year's fund-a-need, which focused on tuition assistance, brought in almost $10,000 the night of the event.

The evening was a fabulous opportunity to celebrate and reconnect with all those who have continued to support CAIS as a leader in bilingual and bicultural education. Thank you again to all of you who volunteered, attended, and donated to the event for making it such a smashing success!
