An Easy Way to Get Merchant Contributions For CAIS

eScrip is a program in which participating merchants automatically donate up to 10% of your purchases to CAIS every time you shop - at no cost to you. Simply buy groceries, services, and products like you normally do using a credit card, debit card, or loyalty card. eScrip does the rest, tracking purchases through the cards you use and directing tens of thousands of dollars a year to CAIS.

Participating merchants include both local stores (e.g. Safeway, Andronico's, Macy's, Eddie Bauer) and hundreds of online stores (e.g. Amazon, Borders, eBay, Williams Sonoma, Babies R Us, OfficeMax, Expedia).

Two Simple Things You Can Do

First, sign up for eScrip. You will need to enter two key pieces of information: (1) enter Chinese American International School as the recipient organization; (2) enter the numbers of the credit and debit cards that you use.

Note: Safeway purchases are tracked using your Safeway Club Card, so enter its number where you are asked to register loyalty cards. Macy purchases are tracked using either a Macy's store credit card or a Macy's VISA card, so those cards need to be registered as a retail credit card or general credit card, respectively.

Second, access online vendors through the eScrip online mall. Going through eScrip's online mall is necessary for eScrip to track your online purchases. So please bookmark the online mall on your browser and use that site when making your online purchases.

Q. Do I pay a higher price for purchases when I participate in eScrip?

A. No. You pay the same price as everyone else and still receive all full discounts with any grocery loyalty card. Merchants already set aside a portion of their revenue to cover their contributions. To collect as much of this money as possible, we need full eScrip participation from CAIS family and staff.

Q. Do I still collect points or rewards on my credit cards?

A. Yes. eScrip simply uses your card for tracking purposes and does not interfere with any card rewards or benefits.

Q. How safe and private is the information eScrip gathers from me?

A. eScrip uses state of the art encryption for data transmission and has extensive security measures to protect its databases. Card numbers and transaction details are not disclosed to protect your privacy. For more details see the privacy statement on the eScrip website

Q. Does my eScrip registration need to be renewed or updated periodically?

A. If your credit/debit cards or their numbers change you will need to update this information. If you register a Safeway Club Card, you will need to renew this registration annually, usually between Aug 1 and Oct 31 to insure uninterrupted contributions. Links for doing either can be accessed by logging onto your eScrip online account. Otherwise, your registration requires no further attention to remain active.

Q. Is there a way for eScrip to track my online purchases without going through eScrip's online mall?

A. Yes, but this requires that you download and install on your computer an eScrip tracking program called AutoEarn. AutoEarn is only compatible with Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP.

Q. Do any restaurants participate?

A. Once you register for eScrip you can be automatically enrolled in a sister donation program called eScrip Dining just by visiting their website. Use your eScrip registered credit or debit cards at restaurants listed on the eScrip Dining website, and they will automatically donate 2.5% of your purchase price to CAIS.

Q. How do I encourage my favorite local merchants to join the eScrip program?

A. Send their contact information to merchants@escrip.com . eScrip will contact the merchant and discuss the program with them.

Q. Can I get friends and relatives to also help out CAIS?

A. Yes. Simply send them the website https://secure.escrip.com/jsp/supporter/registration/step1.jsp and ask them to sign up with CAIS as their designated recipient.

Q. Is there any other way for me to generate eScrip donations to CAIS?

A. Yes. eScrip sponsors a VISA Platinum Credit Card, where up to 2% of all purchases from ANY merchant can be donated to CAIS. This donation is made by the credit card company and is in addition to any donation made by merchants participating in the eScrip program.
